Bron-Tuss is a combination medication designed to provide temporary relief from symptoms associated with the common cold, flu, allergies, and other upper respiratory conditions. It is particularly effective in addressing cough, chest congestion, and nasal congestion. The active ingredients in Bron-Tuss include:

1. Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide (20 mg per 5 mL): An antitussive agent that suppresses the cough reflex by acting on the brain’s cough center.
2. Guaifenesin (200 mg per 5 mL): An expectorant that helps thin and loosen mucus in the airways, making it easier to expel.
3. Phenylephrine Hydrochloride (10 mg per 5 mL): A decongestant that reduces swelling in the nasal passages, alleviating stuffy nose symptoms.

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults and Children 12 years and older: Take 2 teaspoons (10 mL) every 6 hours. Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours.
• Children 6 to under 12 years: Take 1 teaspoon (5 mL) every 6 hours. Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours.
• Children under 6 years: Not recommended for use.

Always use a proper measuring device for accurate dosing. Do not use a household spoon.

Precautions:

• Do not use if currently taking a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) or within 2 weeks of stopping an MAOI.
• Consult a doctor before use if you have:
  • Chronic cough due to smoking, asthma, or emphysema.
  • Excessive mucus production.
  • Heart disease, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, diabetes, or trouble urinating due to an enlarged prostate.
• Stop use and consult a doctor if:
  • Symptoms persist for more than 1 week or worsen.
  • Cough or nasal congestion is accompanied by fever, rash, or persistent headache.
  • Nervousness, dizziness, or sleeplessness occurs.
• Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should consult a healthcare professional before use.
• Keep out of reach of children. In case of accidental overdose, seek immediate medical attention.

Serious side effects (rare):
